AMBIEnCE is a National collaborative research project, which has received funding from Fundação para a Ciência e Tecnologia, in the 02/SAICT/2017 – Scientific Research & Technological Development Projects (SR&TD) Call (Main Scientific Domain | Area: Natural Sciences | Earth and Related Environmental Sciences). The overall objective of the AMBIEnCE project is twofold. Firstly, to assess the impact of atmospheric organic aerosols deposition on the molecular composition and reactivity of dissolved organic matter in different coastal marine systems, as well as exploring how the intrinsic chemical features of both organic aerosols and dissolved organic matter drive the solubility and bioavailability of atmospheric-derived trace metals in seawater. Secondly, to define a roadmap on how to disseminate/reuse project data and its main findings in existing platforms (e.g., Thematic Exploitation Platforms – ESA), as well as their possible use in applications/services with an added value to society.

AMBIEnCE project focus the following Societal Challenges: (i) Climate action, environment, resource efficiency and raw materials (topic 5.2 – Protection and sustainable management of natural resources, water, biodiversity, and ecosystems ); and (ii) Food security, sustainable agriculture and forestry, marine and maritime and inland water research, and the Bioeconomy (topic 2.3 – Aquatic living resources and marine research).

AMBIEnCE has officially started on October the 1st, 2018 under University of Aveiro (Portugal) coordination and will end on September 30th 2021. This website aims at disseminating AMBIEnCE activities, its most important results and outputs to groups both inside and outside the scientific community (e.g. schools, media, and general public).
